How this works
Lifetime tonnage is a multiplication, not a measurement. We chain five averages: years lifting, sessions per week, sets per session, reps per set, and average load. Each one is approximate, the multiplication is exact, and the result is correct to within an order of magnitude, which is the right resolution for the comparison line at the bottom.
The receipt format is intentional. It frames the work as something already paid for. You did the reps. We are just printing the receipt.
Total sets
Years × 52 weeks × sessions per week × working sets per session. A 4-year intermediate lifter doing 3 sessions a week of 18 working sets each lands at about 11,000 sets.
Total reps
Total sets × average reps per set. The same lifter with an average of 7 reps per working set crosses about 78,000 reps.
Total load
Total reps × average load. At 135 lb average, that is about 10.6 million pounds, the rough weight of a fully loaded Boeing 737 with fuel for a transcontinental flight.
Compare against the ladder
We pick the largest item on the comparison ladder you have exceeded 50 percent of. That gives you the biggest defensible flex without the rounding sliding into absurdity.
The comparisons are checked against published weights for each item. The math is grade-school. The screenshots write themselves.
